Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Steve Kimock's Guitar Wizardry

Due to the overwhelming success of my last non-dead recommendation, I have decided to follow it up with some work by my 2nd favorite living guitarist (Trucks is numero uno). Now here's some fine recommendations! Haters are welcome again!

Tongue 'n' Groove, It's Up to You, Long Form Part 4, High And Lonesome, Crazy Engine, TWLWMYD, Stella Blue:

Eudemon, Glad, Cissy Strut (Kimock does the best Meters covers), Kickin' Up Dust, Malichi

One of my all time favorite Zero shows has Derek Trucks sitting in for the entire evening. After the first song you can hear someone in the crowd yell, "Hire the kid!". He was that good with Zero. I still listen to this show frequently and every time it brings me back to good ol' times at The Maritime Hall. I don't know how many Zero shows I saw there. Enjoy!

never heard that specific trucks show, but i'll check it out. thanks. and that kimock show with george porter, kreutzmann, and hollingsworth looks amazing. i'll be blasting that one tomorrow to start off the weekend.

kimock playing stella blue is so damn beautiful. such talent. i love watching him play his fretless guitar:

edit: listening to that trucks show now. THANK YOU! excellent recommendation. trucks brought his A+++ game on this night. now that i think about it, trucks is one of the few musicians who i think never has an off night. and mike mattison on crow jane, and every other song, could not be more perfect. absolutely my favorite voice in the business today.
